During the heated presidential debate on Tuesday night, former President Donald Trump said that Vice President Kamala Harris was taking his political stances to win over people. Trump attacked Harris for her liberal past, bringing up her past views on banning fracking, starting a program to buy back assault weapons, and making crossing the borderless of a crime.
Trump said Harris has moved her views more toward his Republican views, mainly on issues like border security and tax policies. In a joke, Trump said, “She’s going to my philosophy now. I was going to send her a MAGA hat.”
The former president said he didn’t believe Harris was telling the truth and warned that if she was elected, she would go back to her old views. He said, “She’s a Marxist, everybody knows she’s a Marxist,” referring to her father, Donald Harris, who was a Marxist economics expert.
The argument in the debate showed that Trump and Harris are still angry with each other as both campaigns get ready for the 2024 presidential election. Trump’s comments were meant to make Harris look like she changes her mind about policy all the time and is only looking out for herself. He was trying to make himself look like the more stable leader on important issues like immigration and taxes.
