Former Vice President Kamala Harris’s return to her $4.8 million Brentwood residence has sparked varied reactions from neighbors, primarily due to security measures affecting local movement. The enhanced security protocols, including motorcades and Secret Service checkpoints, have created access challenges for area residents.
“They block off the road whenever she comes to town,” one resident shared with the New York Post, highlighting the daily disruptions. The community’s response remains divided, with some welcoming her presence while others express discontent. Retired attorney Peggy Garrity offered a positive perspective: “It’s tragic she’s not in the White House, but delightful having her as a neighbor.” In contrast, a local real estate investor named Lewis voiced criticism of her political impact.
During her stay, Harris demonstrated community engagement by visiting an Altadena fire station, where she assisted wildfire evacuees and connected with firefighters. “We wanted to come out … and let people know they are cared for,” she stated during the visit.
The former Vice President’s presence has also fueled discussions about her political trajectory, particularly regarding potential aspirations for California’s governorship. Some residents, including Lewis, have expressed concerns, drawing parallels to current Governor Gavin Newsom’s leadership: “Kamala Harris will do exactly the same as Gavin Newsom—destroy this state.”
