On Sunday afternoon, four zebras broke away from a trailer just off Interstate 90 near North Bend, according to Washington State Patrol spokeswoman Trooper Rick Johnson.

As of Sunday evening, efforts resulted in the return of two zebras to the trailer, as well as the successful corralling of a young zebra. However, one zebra is still at large, triggering a community-wide search.

The zebras managed to escape as the trailer came to a halt near Exit 32, resulting in a chaotic scene. Laura Fisher, who witnessed the incident while traveling with her son, described the tense moment when they noticed the trailer doors fluttering and the zebras approaching the edge.

Concerned for their own and other drivers’ safety, Fisher and her son quickly moved away from the zebras, signaling to the trailer driver to stop.

The reason for bringing the zebras to Montana is uncertain, with Johnson claiming that the driver’s motives are unknown.

Authorities, including animal control specialists from the King County Sheriff’s Office, are actively involved in the ongoing search for and safe capture of the remaining zebra.

The circumstances surrounding the zebras’ escape are still being investigated, leaving many perplexed by their unexpected interstate adventure. Stay tuned for further updates as the story progresses.
