A poll suggests that Taylor Swift’s support for Kamala Harris may have gone wrong

Many people are upset about Taylor Swift’s recent support for Vice President Kamala Harris. A new study shows that her support may have turned off more votes than it brought in. When asked about Swift’s endorsement, 8% said they were “somewhat” or “much more likely” to vote Democrat, but 20% said they were “somewhat” or “much less likely” to support Harris. The YouGov study came out on Saturday.

Even though people had very different opinions, 66% of those who answered said Swift’s support didn’t change how they voted. The statement came after a heated argument between Harris and former President Donald Trump. Swift then said she supported the vice president.

The famous singer, who has over 283 million followers on Instagram, wrote about her political views on the site. She had earlier backed Joe Biden for president in 2020. She made a funny reference to J.D. Vance’s past comments about “childless cat ladies” in her post by including a picture of her own cat. Swift made it clear that she backed Harris and her running mate Tim Walz by writing, “I will vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election.”

Swift told her fans in her long post to learn about election candidates and make smart choices. She also talked about her worries about AI after finding a fake movie made by AI that wrongly showed her supporting Donald Trump. Swift wrote, “It really made me worry about AI and the risks of spreading false information.”

The singer made it clear that she backs Harris and called the vice president a “steady-handed” leader who fights for causes she cares about. At the end, she told the voters, “Your research is all yours, and the choice is yours.”

Tim Walz, who is running with Harris for governor of Minnesota, heard about Swift’s support during a live MSNBC interview and thanked her. Walz told Taylor Swift, “I’m so thankful for her.” “Swifties, do not miss this chance: KamalaHarris.com,” she said. “That’s the kind of courage we need in America,” Walz said about Swift’s impact.

But not everyone liked that Swift was involved in politics. Karoline Leavitt, a spokesman for the Trump campaign, said that the support was bad and that it showed that the Democratic Party only cares about the “wealthy elite.” Leavitt brought up the difference between Swift’s easy life and the problems that regular American families face. She said that many Americans trust their local cops to keep them safe, even though Swift may have had armed guards.

Over 10 million people have liked Swift’s post, which has led to heated conversations on many social media sites. But her political views could make it harder for people in her daily life to get along. Reports say that Swift, who is dating NFL star Travis Kelce right now, may have had a fight with Brittany Mahomes, who is married to Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, over politics. People think Brittany Mahomes might back former President Trump because she has been seen liking posts about him on Instagram.

A November study by NBC News found that 40% of registered voters had a good view of Swift and 16% had a negative view. Swift’s support may still have some weight among young voters, even though it has been criticised. The pop star used her fame to urge people to register to vote, especially among her loyal fans.

As the 2024 election draws near, it’s still not clear how Swift will affect politics. Some Democratic fans have been inspired by her endorsement, but some voters have been turned off by it. This makes people wonder what the real effect of star endorsements is in today’s political environment.
