Traders in Lincoln Voice Concerns About the Impact of a Major Road Project

Companies in Lincoln are becoming concerned about the possible effects of a major seven-month road construction project in the city.

The project’s first phase, which is presently under place along Newland, has installed a one-way system with a 10-week estimated lifetime. This phase includes important modifications to the infrastructure, like new traffic signal installation, improved drainage, and walkway construction.

Lincolnshire County Council has promised that these upgrades will eventually result in less disturbance for Lincoln over the long run.

Local companies, however, are concerned about the immediate effects. The manager of the Fun Farm Day Nursery, Jenny Andrews, expressed worries about the practical difficulties this plan may cause for parents trying to figure out the nursery’s one-way system.

Lincoln Dental and Implant Studio manager Kat Behan expressed these concerns, questioning if customers will be able to arrive on time for their appointments given the additional traffic.

Greek2Me Bakery’s director, Emmanuel Papadopoulos, recognized the need for the road construction but emphasized the long-term negative impact on his company.

The executive member of Lincolnshire County Council, Richard Davies, stressed the need for infrastructure upgrades immediately in order to stop further degradation. He asked locals to be kind and patient while work is being done.

Intermittent westbound closures of Newland between Wigford Way and The Avenue will happen as the project moves forward. To reduce disturbance, drivers will be redirected via specified diversion routes.

In order to minimize disruption, road surface operations will also take place overnight on weekdays, with complete road closures from 19:00 to 6:00 BST.
