Kyiv, January 27, 2025 – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed that U.S. military assistance to Ukraine will persist despite the U.S. State Department’s recent 90-day suspension of foreign aid. Speaking at a press conference, Zelensky addressed the aid suspension, highlighting that while humanitarian efforts are temporarily on hold, military support remains steadfast.

“I understand there are limitations, and we need to examine them thoroughly. The restrictions apply to humanitarian programs for 90 days… My focus is on military aid, and thankfully, it continues,” Zelensky remarked.

The Pentagon has verified that the suspension imposed by the U.S. does not affect ongoing military aid to Ukraine, ensuring that defense operations and support remain uninterrupted amid the current conflict. On January 24, the U.S. State Department ordered the termination of existing international aid programs and halted the initiation of new ones, impacting certain humanitarian assistance efforts for Ukraine.

Furthermore, according to the New York Times, the United States has also paused several immigration programs, including those welcoming Ukrainian refugees, during this 90-day period. While Zelensky has yet to provide additional comments on the broader effects of the aid suspension, he remains confident in the continued military backing from the U.S.

This announcement underscores the complex landscape of international aid, with military support from the United States remaining a pillar of Ukraine’s defense strategy during these turbulent times.
