Windows 11 Update Glitch: Persistent 8.63GB Cache

Read Time:35 Second

The recent Windows 11 24H2 update has created an unexpected issue: an 8.63GB cache that users can’t remove. This cache, generated during the update process, resists deletion attempts via Disk Cleanup or Storage Sense.

The problem originates from Windows 11’s newly implemented checkpoint updates, designed to minimize update sizes. However, this feature has unintentionally led to the creation of this stubborn cache. While the cache appears to occupy 8.63GB, experts suspect the actual space used might be less, with Disk Cleanup potentially reporting inaccurate information.

Microsoft has recognized this glitch and is currently developing a solution. In the meantime, users are cautioned against manually deleting the cache to avoid potential complications with future updates.
