May 28, 2024, BENTONVILLE, Ark. Walmart Inc. is helping its hometown after powerful storms and tornadoes devastated Northwest Arkansas, leaving many locals without power and with damaged houses. The company is working with the Walmart Foundation to provide assistance. Up to $2 million has been committed by Walmart and the Walmart Foundation to help with emergency relief operations.

“We want to support the community’s immediate needs in these early days,” said Dan Bartlett, Walmart Inc.’s senior vice president of corporate relations. “For the foreseeable future, we will be here for everyone who has been affected, including our neighbors and associates.”

One million dollars from Walmart, Sam’s Club, and the Walmart Foundation are included in the promise. This involves giving money to relief groups as well as food, water, and product gifts. The corporation is aggressively collaborating with neighborhood NGOs to address urgent needs for food, water, clothing, and home items. It has quickly provided truckloads of necessary supplies to the Rogers High School coordination center and the local Red Cross.

Additionally, Walmart is working with suppliers and organizations to offer the neighborhood extra resources including WiFi hotspots, charging stations, free meals, and mobile shower and laundry services. Walmart and Tyson Foods have already cooked over 3,000 hot dinners for the neighborhood and are still going strong.

Walmart has launched an associate match program to match associate contributions made to recovery-related groups up to $1 million, demonstrating the eagerness of its workers to serve their community. Furthermore, Walmart offers volunteer opportunities through its associate giving and volunteerism programs, Spark Good.
