Darcy Kuemper has transformed the Los Angeles Kings’ goaltending situation since his return to the team, emerging as one of the NHL’s premier netminders with impressive stats: a .919 save percentage and 2.19 goals-against average.

The 35-year-old’s journey has come full circle. After a brief stint with the Kings in 2017-18, he was traded to Arizona, where his career took off. Kuemper went on to earn a Vezina Trophy nomination and win the Stanley Cup with Colorado. Following two challenging years in Washington, he made his way back to Los Angeles via trade last summer, where he’s rediscovered his elite form.
Under the guidance of goaltending coach Mike Buckley and with adjustments to his game, Kuemper has found a new level of confidence. Head coach Jim Hiller has dubbed him the team’s “backbone,” praising his reliable performances.

The timing couldn’t be better for the Kings, who faced goaltending challenges last season. Kuemper’s exceptional play has been instrumental in positioning the team as serious playoff contenders.
