The AGM-179 Joint Air-to-Ground Missile (JAGM) reached a major milestone when it was successfully launched by a US Marine Corps attack helicopter at a moving sea target in the Pacific during a ground-based military exercise. During a training exercise in the Philippine Sea, off the coast of Okinawa, the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit reported on Friday that an AH-1Z Viper attack helicopter fired a live JAGM missile, striking a towed moving training vessel. This earlier this week incident was the first in the Indo-Pacific area to see the firing of the JAGM from an AH-1Z.
A Revolution in Missile Technology
