Unexpected Development in the Missing Florida Diver Case: Another Body Found

Read Time:1 Minute, 59 Second

The investigation into the 39-year-old diver who vanished off the Atlantic coast of Florida, Virgil Price, took an odd turn when investigators found another body, according to the authorities.

The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office reports that Price vanished on Sunday, May 12. But late on May 13, rescuers discovered an unidentified person, casting further doubt on an already confusing scenario.

The sheriff’s office said that no one had been reported to fit the deceased’s description before the corpse was discovered, therefore the identity of the retrieved body is still unknown.

According to the sheriff’s office, “our marine unit assisted the U.S. Coast Guard with the recovery of a deceased white male from the water about 16 miles northeast of the Fort Pierce Inlet.” “This person looks to be more than 50 years old and weighs between 200 and 225 pounds. His physical attributes and attire do not like those of the diver who went missing on Sunday. We do not currently have any reports of missing persons in St. Lucie County that fit this description.

The reason and timing of death will likely be ascertained by a medical examination, even if the Coast Guard has launched an inquiry.

The body appeared to have been in the water for a short time, indicating that the tragedy could have happened not too long ago, despite the tragic finding, as reported by the sheriff’s office.

In the meanwhile, the Coast Guard sadly canceled the search for Virgil Price late on Monday after a thorough investigation that covered 1,415 miles in 36 hours.

“Suspending an ongoing search is not a choice that is made lightly. We send our deepest sympathies to Mr. Price’s family,” Lieutenant Commander John Beal said in a solemn press statement.

Investigators said Price was last seen on Sunday at roughly 10 a.m., some 13 miles southeast of the Fort Pierce Inlet.

At the location of the 1942 German submarine torpedoed wreckage S.S. Halsey, he was free diving alongside three other friends. Fishingstatus.com states that the wreck is separated into three portions and is located in a depth of around 65 feet.

The town is still filled with mystery and anxiety as officials look into Virgil Price’s disappearance as well as the strange finding of the unidentified body. They are eager to learn more about this puzzling case.
