In Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup triumph over Atalanta, Kylian Mbappé scored his first goal for Real Madrid, capping an incredible start to his career. The Spanish powerhouses further cemented their place among Europe’s most prosperous clubs by winning their sixth UEFA Super Cup championship in the game, which took place in Warsaw, Poland.
The Champions League winners take on the Europa League champions in the annual UEFA Super Cup. Real Madrid, the current Champions League winners, took against Atalanta, the Serie A team who won the Europa League, this year.
Real Madrid took the lead in the first half of the match and never looked back. Madrid took the lead in the 59th minute thanks to a goal from Federico Valverde. In just nine minutes, Mbappé cemented his name into Real Madrid history while donning the recognizable No. 9 shirt. With help from Jude Bellingham, Mbappé scored his team’s first goal with a deft stroke into the upper right corner of the net.
The move of Mbappé to Real Madrid in June was one of the most eagerly awaited events of the year. The 25-year-old French striker came from Paris Saint-Germain, where he had a fantastic run of success that included six Ligue 1 championships and a trip to the Champions League final in the 2019–20 campaign. He signed a big signing bonus of more than $100 million, and he allegedly earned $16 million a year when he moved to Madrid.
Real Madrid will now concentrate on their La Liga campaign after this victory, starting on Saturday when they take on Mallorca. With their sights set on winning their 37th La Liga championship, Mbappé’s debut performance has raised the bar for the next season.
