Not long ago, Donald Trump, the past president of the United States, made a big announcement: if he wins again, he will put tech billionaire Elon Musk in charge of a “government efficiency commission.” The commission’s main job would be to check how the federal government works and suggest changes that would make it more efficient and cut costs.
During a speech to the Economic Club of New York, Trump said, “At Elon Musk’s suggestion, and with his full support, I will set up a commission to audit the whole federal government.”
Trump said he was sure Musk could lead the effort and pointed out that the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX had agreed to do so. Later, Musk confirmed that he was ready to help by writing on his social media site X, “No pay, no title, no recognition is needed.”
Trump also talked about bigger plans to cut rules, lower taxes for U.S. businesses, and accept bitcoin.
This is the newest policy idea that Trump has put forward before the 2024 race.
