In a post that shocked politicians everywhere, Trump promised to lead what he called a “major crackdown” on people he thinks will cheat the election. According to a report in Salon, Trump’s comment is more of the same old story that the 2020 election was fixed against him.
Trump’s message started with the words “CEASE & DESIST.” “Like many other lawyers and law professors, I’m keeping a close eye on the integrity of the 2024 presidential election.”
Following this, Trump said that Democrats were involved in mass voting fraud in the 2020 presidential election. “I know better than most how much the Democrats have cheated and done shady things in the 2020 Presidential Election.” It was a shame for our country!”

He said that people who tampered with the election would be punished in a way that had never been seen before by the law: “Those involved in dishonest behavior will be sought out, caught, and prosecuted at levels, unfortunately, never seen before in our Country.”
Republicans Fighting Back Against Trump
Some well-known Republicans have even turned away from Trump because of his angry rhetoric. Richard Cheney, who used to be Vice President, did something very brave when he backed Kamala Harris over Trump. Cheney was very worried about Trump’s danger to democracy. He said, “In the 248-year history of our country, there has never been a person who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump.”
It’s too early to tell if Cheney’s criticism will have any political weight, but it’s clear that not all Republicans agree with Trump’s plans for a 2024 president.
