In a new development regarding U.S. military aid to Ukraine, former President Donald Trump has proposed a controversial compensation plan. Speaking at CPAC, Trump outlined his initiative to recoup billions in U.S. aid through Ukrainian natural resources.
The proposal calls for Ukraine to provide rare earth minerals and oil as repayment for military assistance received during President Biden’s administration. According to reports, U.S. negotiators are seeking $500 billion in resources, despite the military aid package being valued at approximately $60 billion.
Ukrainian President Zelenskyy appears hesitant to accept these terms. An AFP source close to his office indicated resistance to the agreement, primarily due to security concerns. Diplomatic tensions have risen following Trump’s criticism of Zelenskyy, whom he referred to as a “dictator.”
As these discussions unfold, Russia reportedly advances in the Luhansk region. The UK, through Prime Minister Starmer, maintains its steadfast support for Ukraine, highlighting international disagreement over the proposed arrangement.
