Donald Trump praised a “amazing” woman for her important part in catching the man who is accused of trying to kill him at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. At a town hall meeting in Flint, Michigan, Trump talked about how the unknown woman, a driver who saw the suspect acting suspiciously, followed him and was a key part of his arrest.
The event took place on Sunday while Trump was playing golf at the club. Secret Service officials saw the muzzle of a gun through the bushes, which made them move right away to protect Trump. The police saw the danger and fired in the direction of what looked like a sniper’s nest, which made the suspect run away.
Trump said that the shooter, who was named Ryan Wesley Routh and is 58 years old, tried to get away in a black Nissan SUV. The brave woman was driving down a busy street when she saw Routh running and became worried. She chose to follow him and take important pictures of his license plate. Routh was arrested quickly less than an hour later because of how quickly she thought and acted.
Trump spoke to the crowd with Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the former press secretary and current governor of Arkansas. Sanders accompanied Trump and said that the woman’s actions were amazing. He praised her alertness and boldness by saying that she saw something “bad” about the suspect and acted right away to help the police.
Police stopped Routh on I-95 because he has a crime record. He went to court on Monday and was charged with having a gun while being a convicted criminal and having a gun with a serial number that was not visible. As the case goes on, more charges may be brought.
The fact that this is the second attempt on Trump’s life in the last few months shows how dangerous the former president is. Trump thanked and praised the woman for her bravery, saying that her actions were a big reason why the dangerous situation was quickly resolved.
According to Trump, the woman was very brave. He ended his speech by saying, “Women are smarter than men,” and he said he wanted to meet her.
