Tesla and Rivian appear close to resolving a trade secrets lawsuit filed in 2020. Tesla accused Rivian of hiring its employees to gain access to confidential information, alleging that three workers took “highly valuable” data when leaving for Rivian.
Rivian has consistently denied the claims, calling them “baseless,” and sought to have the case dismissed. However, a California judge rejected Rivian’s dismissal motion earlier this year, paving the way for a potential trial in 2025.
Now, according to Bloomberg, Tesla states the two companies have reached a “conditional” settlement. If finalized, Tesla expects the case to be officially dismissed by December 24.
This agreement could conclude the contentious legal battle, allowing the electric vehicle manufacturers to refocus on their industry competition and growth.
