Storm Bert has caused significant disruption across the Midlands, leading to road closures and rail service cancellations. A man was rescued from his car in Walsall, as emergency services warned against driving through floodwaters.
Several roads in Herefordshire, including the B4203 at Bromyard and the B4521 at Broad Oak, are closed, while Tenbury Wells in Worcestershire is facing flooding due to rising waters in the Kyre Brook.
Rail services are also impacted, with flooding blocking the Birmingham to Shrewsbury route, and disruptions affecting trains between Birmingham Snow Hill and Stratford-upon-Avon, as well as Worcester Foregate Street and Hereford.
The A49 is closed in both directions between Church Stretton and Holmer due to severe flooding, while Frankwell Main and Riverside car parks in Shrewsbury are shut due to rising river levels.
The Environment Agency has issued 23 flood warnings and 45 flood alerts across the region, including parts of Worcestershire, Shropshire, and the West Midlands.
A yellow wind warning remains in effect until Sunday evening, which may cause further disruption. Residents are urged to stay updated on weather warnings and avoid non-essential travel in affected areas.
