Squid Game season two has officially set a new record for Netflix, with 68 million views within its first four days. According to Variety, this marks the platform’s biggest TV show debut, surpassing the previous record of 50.1 million views by Wednesday in 2022.
The first season of Squid Game was also a huge hit, with 142 million households tuning in by October 2021.
In addition to its dramatic commentary on capitalism, Netflix is expanding Squid Game into a lucrative franchise. The streaming giant has launched a less deadly reality show spinoff, a live pop-up experience, and a multiplayer mobile game based on the series.
With the third and final season expected next year, Squid Game shows no signs of slowing down, and could potentially set even more records for Netflix in the future.
