San Diego County Shark Attack

Read Time:53 Second

Authorities said that a 46-year-old man was attacked by a shark on Sunday off the shore of Del Mar in San Diego County, resulting in the temporary closure of the beach.

Around nine in the morning, the event happened around a hundred yards offshore from the Beach Safety Center on 17th Street. The fatality, according to city officials, was one of around a dozen swimmers who train at Del Mar on a daily basis.

The man was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla by emergency personnel. He suffered severe wounds, including bites to his hand, left arm, and body. Thankfully, it doesn’t appear like the injuries are life-threatening.

Within a mile of the incident scene, from Sixth Street to North Beach, lifeguards have temporarily restricted the beaches to swimming and surfing in response to the attack. It is anticipated that this water closure would last until at least Tuesday morning.

To protect public safety, authorities are keeping a careful eye on the situation. As new information becomes available, they will update the public.
