Sam’s Club will establish two new distribution centers in the Minneapolis and St. Louis regions.

Leading membership warehouse club Sam’s Club®, a part of Walmart Inc., has announced plans to establish two additional distribution centers in early 2024, outside of St. Louis and Minneapolis. This development is a component of a multi-year growth plan that aims to improve Sam’s Club’s network, end-to-end capabilities, and supply chain transformation.

It is anticipated that the new facilities will increase employment in the relevant regions and enhance Sam’s Club members’ in-store and online shopping experiences by speeding up product availability.

The first distribution facility, located in Edwardsville, Illinois, in the greater St. Louis area, is scheduled to operate in January 2024. Over 100 employment will be created by this 370,000 square foot building, which is situated at 5710 Inner Park Dr. It will be used as a fulfillment and distribution center. Early December is when hiring for hourly associates will start. At now, Walmart Inc. employs more than 57,000 people in Illinois, making it a major employer.

The second location will be at 7400 Hentges Way in Shakopee, Minnesota. More than 80 associates will work at this 365,000 square foot multipurpose distribution center when it opens in March 2024; hiring has already begun. In Minnesota, Walmart Inc. has around 24,000 associates working for them.

This news comes after Sam’s Club recently announced plans to build additional fulfillment and distribution facilities in Lithia Springs, Georgia, which is close to Atlanta, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
