Russia has accused NATO of preparing to send 100,000 troops to Ukraine, claiming the alliance intends to occupy the country under the pretext of peacekeeping. The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) suggests NATO’s goal is to temporarily “freeze” the conflict while strengthening Ukraine’s military forces for potential revenge against Russia.
However, Russia has not provided any proof to support these allegations. Former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has reaffirmed that NATO has no plans to deploy ground troops to Ukraine, focusing its support on defensive measures.
The SVR further contends that NATO aims to stabilize the situation temporarily while enhancing Ukraine’s combat capabilities for future operations. “Without adequate weapons and ammunition, Ukraine’s military cannot sustain high-intensity operations over an extended period,” the SVR claimed.
As tensions between Russia and NATO continue to rise, concerns about a broader conflict grow. NATO has consistently rejected claims of direct military involvement, stating that its role remains focused on providing Ukraine with military aid, training, and humanitarian support.
The situation remains precarious, with the potential for further escalations if peace efforts fail.
