Claims that Meghan Markle “broke royal protocol” in her early days in the Royal Family have been formally denied by Prince Harry. Following the publication of the couple’s Netflix documentary, in which Meghan talked about the difficulties she faced adjusting to life as a royal, uproar sprang out. She said that she made some mistakes since she didn’t know the Royal Family exclusively backed “deliberately non-controversial causes.”
In the documentary, Meghan’s participation in the MeToo movement and her impromptu hug of a schoolgirl were emphasized as possible transgressions of royal etiquette. Harry, however, soon refuted these claims, claiming that the press had “invented” a number of the alleged practices.
Following their resignation from royal responsibilities in 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been under constant scrutiny.
