North Korea has conducted a strategic cruise missile test under the direct supervision of leader Kim Jong Un, aiming to showcase its “counter-attack capability” against the United States. The launch, announced on Friday, follows Pyongyang’s recent warning of readiness to respond to threats from the US and its allies.
Kim Jong Un emphasized the importance of continuously verifying the reliability of North Korea’s nuclear deterrent, calling it essential for maintaining “perfect deterrence and defence capability.” He asserted that the nation’s nuclear forces are tasked with safeguarding sovereignty and security, ensuring preparedness for any potential confrontation.
The North Korean Ministry of Defence accused the US and its allies of escalating military provocations since Donald Trump’s return to the White House. In response, they vowed to utilize strategic resources to counter any threats.
This latest missile test underscores rising tensions in the region, as North Korea continues to assert its military strength amid strained international relations.
