Randy Moss, former NFL superstar and current ESPN analyst, has publicly disclosed his recent cancer diagnosis and successful surgical treatment. During an Instagram Live broadcast, Moss revealed that doctors discovered cancer in his bile duct during a Thanksgiving medical procedure.
Describing himself as a “cancer survivor,” Moss underwent a complex six-hour Whipple procedure in Charlotte that successfully removed cancer cells. Despite the successful surgery, he will continue treatment with chemotherapy and radiation.
In a deeply personal and inspiring message, Moss emphasized the critical importance of health screenings, particularly for Black men. “Check your ego at the door,” he advised, urging others to prioritize medical checkups. He is using his platform to raise awareness, with “Team Moss” merchandise featuring a lavender cancer awareness ribbon, with proceeds supporting cancer research.
Moss is currently taking an indefinite leave from his role on “Sunday NFL Countdown” to focus on his health and recovery. Throughout his announcement, he expressed profound gratitude for his medical team, family, and supporters.
“The one thing that stood out in the hospital was seeing my family’s faces—I just need to get back to them,” Moss shared, highlighting the personal motivation behind his fight. Despite acknowledging the challenging journey ahead, he remains optimistic, declaring, “Yes, it’s a tough road, but I’m good.”
