The National Airports Office reports that Morocco’s aviation sector has reached new heights, processing over 24 million passengers through September 2024. This achievement marks a significant 19.66% growth compared to the previous year’s figures.
The expansion spans both domestic and international segments. Home routes experienced exceptional growth, with 2.55 million passengers representing a 28.82% year-over-year increase. International travel also flourished, accommodating 21.7 million travelers—an 18.67% rise. Europe emerged as the strongest international market with a 19.86% uptick, while African routes grew by 17.68%, and connections to the Middle East and Far East increased by 11.99%.
Individual airports posted impressive gains, with Rabat-Salé leading at 42.77% growth, followed by Agadir and Marrakech showing increases of 36.5% and 33.88% respectively. Overall aircraft movements reached 179,863, climbing 15.44% from the previous year.
The cargo sector also demonstrated robust performance, with air freight volumes reaching 67,833 tons—a 21.5% increase year-over-year. These results reinforce Morocco’s growing influence as a key aviation center in North Africa, serving both regional and international markets.
