Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram, has unveiled a new initiative called the “breakthrough bonus program” aimed at enticing TikTok creators. The program offers payouts of up to $5,000 for creators who begin sharing content on Meta’s platforms. This move comes amid uncertainty surrounding TikTok’s future, following temporary bans and increasing regulatory scrutiny.
Program Overview
The bonus program is available to U.S.-based creators who already have a presence on other social platforms. Eligible participants must link their existing profiles to Meta, set up a professional Instagram account, and create a Facebook page.
Once approved, creators can earn bonuses over a 90-day period by fulfilling specific requirements. These include posting at least 20 Reels on Facebook and 10 on Instagram monthly, spread over at least 10 days. Bonus amounts will vary based on an evaluation of the creator’s social media presence.

Additional Earning Opportunities
Beyond the bonus program, creators can also join Facebook’s Content Monetization initiative. This allows them to earn revenue from a variety of content types, such as videos, photos, and text posts. Meta is further incentivizing participation by offering select creators a free one-year subscription to Meta Verified, which includes features like a verified badge and enhanced security.
Targeting TikTok’s User Base
While Meta has not explicitly mentioned TikTok, the timing and structure of the program appear to target TikTok’s creator community. Notably, the program requires creators to post twice as many Reels on Facebook as on Instagram, underscoring Meta’s efforts to revitalize Facebook’s appeal among younger audiences.
Meta’s strategy to attract TikTok creators doesn’t stop at bonuses. The company recently extended the maximum length of Instagram Reels from 90 seconds to three minutes and revamped Instagram’s grid layout. Additionally, reports suggest Meta has offered top TikTok influencers as much as $50,000 per month to prioritize posting on Reels.
A Strategic Push for Engagement
Meta’s aggressive incentives highlight its focus on expanding its short-form video ecosystem and competing directly with TikTok. By providing financial rewards and platform improvements, Meta aims to create an attractive space for creators, ultimately driving more engagement across Facebook and Instagram.
For creators, the breakthrough bonus program presents an opportunity to diversify their platforms and unlock new revenue streams. As the race for short-form video dominance heats up, Meta’s initiatives could play a key role in shaping the landscape of content creation.
