Meta Enhances AI Smart Glasses with Car-Finding Feature

Read Time:48 Second

Meta has rolled out an update for its AI-enabled Ray-Ban smart glasses, available to users in the United States and Canada. The upgrade introduces more intuitive voice commands, eliminating the need for formal phrases like “Hey Meta, look and tell me,” as explained by CTO Andrew Bosworth.

The update brings several new functionalities, including voice messaging, timer setting, and reminder creation. In a recent Instagram video, CEO Mark Zuckerberg showcased the glasses’ ability to help users locate their parked vehicles. Additional features now allow Meta AI to dial phone numbers and read QR codes.

While these improvements enhance user experience, the anticipated live translation feature is not part of this update, with no confirmed release date.

Despite these advancements, Meta’s smart glasses have faced scrutiny over privacy issues. A recent incident involving two Harvard students using the glasses to reveal personal information about strangers has raised concerns about the combination of facial recognition and AI technologies.
