Meta Resolves Quest Headset Software Problem
Meta is working to fix a software issue that caused some Quest 2, Quest 3, and Quest 3S headsets to stop functioning after a recent update. Initially, the company disappointed customers by refusing to offer assistance, stating that out-of-warranty devices wouldn’t be covered. However, Meta has since reversed its position and is now providing a fix for all affected users.

The problem stemmed from a software update on December 6th, which introduced new features like virtual desktop, improved hand tracking, and easier pairing with Windows 11 PCs. While these features were meant to enhance the experience, they caused some headsets to become unresponsive.
Meta acknowledged the issue in its help center, explaining, “We’ve discovered a software update issue that caused some Quest headsets to stop working. We are actively working on a fix for all users. If your device is still unresponsive, we’re here to help.”
Many affected users reported receiving confirmation emails from Meta, stating that out-of-warranty support would be provided to address the issue. Meta’s customer support has also been updated with new instructions for resolving the problem.
This response comes after initial frustration from users, as Meta’s previous refusal to help had caused dissatisfaction. The company’s current efforts to fix the issue and offer support have helped rebuild trust among its VR community.
