Major Damage Caused by a Severe Hailstorm in Denver Called “Hell on Earth”

Read Time:2 Minute, 21 Second

Denver, Colorado automobile after automobile in the Denver neighborhood’s Green Valley Ranch neighborhood is shown with plastic sheets placed over shattered windows and broken windshields after a strong hailstorm. Following the significant damage caused by the hurricane on Thursday night, car owners have been rushing to get their vehicles repaired.

Some locals called the hailstorm “hell on Earth,” as it broke windows and knocked out various auto parts, including door handles. Witnesses saw chunks of ice the size of baseballs hitting the ground.

As the storm moved over Peña Boulevard, close to Denver International Airport, FOX31 recorded stunning footage of it. As the storm grew stronger and the hail started to pile up quickly, cars were seen to be stopping. Many automobiles sustained significant damage in an apartment complex off Tower Road.

“I knew it was going to cause some harm because of how loud it was and how it was hitting. Nita Wilkinson remarked, “I didn’t think it was going to be this bad though,” as she examined her car’s damage.

There has been confirmed reports of baseball-sized hail in the area. One of the impacted drivers, Daisy Reyes, recounted the incident as she was tidying up her car: “I brought my broom and I started taking out as much glass to see what the whole damage was.”

The experience during the storm was especially terrifying for individuals who were inside vehicles. The severity of the storm caused a van to stop moving, as Michael Hutchinson said. “It sounded like gravel hitting the roof of the shuttle van.” Next to me, windows were smashing in cars. Simply put, it was hell on Earth. Later, Hutchinson found his car severely damaged, with hail piling up inside and broken glass.

Following the incident, auto glass repair teams received an enormous volume of calls. The proprietor of BMZ Auto Glass, Mike Blunt, recommended locals to get multiple repair quotes before selecting a provider and to get in touch with their insurance companies right away.

It can take some time to fix all of the damaged cars given the scope of the damage.
