In a shocking admission, Prince Harry said that the bond between his father, King Charles, and his wife, Meghan Markle, got much stronger after the future king learned something special about the Duchess of Sussex. King Charles and his daughter-in-law were said to be closer than ever before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle quit their royal tasks in January 2020. They had a special bond that grew stronger over time.
Prince Harry wrote in his autobiography, “Spare,” that King Charles and Markle had always had a “strong” bond. But their love for each other grew even stronger when the King found out that Meghan shared a birthday with his beloved grandmother, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.
He talked about a time when this finding was made while on a family trip to the Castle of Mey in Scotland in the summer of 2018. “Towards the end of summer 2018 we went to Scotland, the Castle of Mey, to spend a few days with Pa,” Harry wrote. “The bond between Meg and Pa, always strong, grew even stronger during that weekend.”
The realization came to her one night while she was drinking drinks before dinner and Fred Astaire played softly in the background. Then King Charles found out that Meghan’s birthday, August 4, was the same as his “favorite person,” the Queen Mother, whom he called “Gan-Gan.”
Reports say that when King Charles heard this, he was thrilled and talked about how much he loved his grandmother. He remembered that Pa had said with a smile, “Amazing.” “When he thought of Gan-Gan and how she was connected to my bride, he suddenly felt happy and started telling me stories I had never heard before. He was basically performing and showing off for Meg.”
Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother died softly away in her sleep on March 30, 2002. She was 101 years old. In just a few weeks, she died. In February 2002, her daughter Princess Margaret had died.
