IDF Uncovers Hamas Tunnel Capturing Israeli Prisoners

Read Time:1 Minute, 2 Second

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) have made an important discovery: under Khan Younis in southern Gaza, there is a Hamas tunnel that was likely used to hold Israeli hostages. Today, the IDF published video that shows off the tunnel’s vast amenities, which include restrooms.

The IDF claims that the tunnel, which is situated in a civilian section of Khan Yunis, was entered by a terrorist affiliated with Hamas at his home. Five barred prison cells and a central chamber intended for holding captives were discovered during the inquiry. The IDF also discovered weapons and intelligence that belonged to Hamas, as well as proof that hostages were being held.

The tunnel’s construction was expected to cost millions of shekels. As part of their operations in the area, Israel demolished the tunnel. Even though Israel controls the majority of northern and southern Gaza, Hamas uses a vast network of tunnels to continue its activities.

Tunnels in the area have been heavily bombed, cleared, and flooded by the IDF. Notably, this maze is said to be home to key Hamas commanders, such as Yahya Sinwar. According to recent reports, Israel is aware of Sinwar’s whereabouts but has chosen not to attack him because of his close proximity to Israeli detainees.
