The operation was carried out on July 15 near Orikhiv, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Ukraine, by forces from Russia’s Dnepr Group of Forces, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD). In a statement, the MoD emphasized the part played by a sniper from the 19th Guards Motor Rifle Division in taking out a fighter from the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Ukrainian warrior was trying to build up fortifications when the strike happened. With some insight into the operation, the sniper—known only as Hunter—said, “Fortunately, our scouts spotted the enemy from the sky in a ‘bird’.” In order to establish a firing location, the enemy was attempting to dig in a neighboring forested region. I used fire to annihilate the enemies as a result. They won’t be returning anytime soon now.”
The MoD went into more detail about the strategies used by their snipers, highlighting how fast and silently they could move into firing positions. Our snipers approach the firing position as fast and silently as they can, pull the trigger, and go on. An alternative would be to position oneself within a dugout and fire from there, out of the shadows, so that no evidence is left behind,” the ministry stated. By using these strategies, Russian snipers are able to engage and destroy drones that the Ukrainian troops are using for attack and reconnaissance in addition to taking aim at enemy personnel.
