Google inadvertently released an early version of its Jarvis AI, a powerful assistant designed to control computers for tasks like online shopping, booking flights, and research. The prototype appeared briefly on the Chrome Web Store, offering a sneak peek at what Google is working on. Unlike typical AI helpers, Jarvis aims to perform tasks autonomously without user input.
The leak was short-lived, as Google quickly removed the store page by the afternoon. Attempts to use Jarvis were unsuccessful, with access permissions limiting its functionality. Initially planned for a December launch, the early release has sparked excitement.
Jarvis will compete with Anthropic’s Claude AI, which recently launched into public beta. Similar to Jarvis, Claude can also take control of a computer to complete basic functions, positioning it as a strong competitor in the AI assistant market.
The accidental preview of Jarvis offers a glimpse into how AI could evolve, performing complex tasks autonomously beyond just answering questions or providing reminders.
