Gloucestershire Teacher Expelled for Life Following Discovery of Explicit Pictures

Read Time:1 Minute, 23 Second

Unbelievably, a long-time Gloucestershire teacher was given a lifelong teaching ban when it was found that his computer devices contained offensive photos of minors.

After being arrested on June 28, 2022, Gilbert Antony, a teacher at The Crypt School in Podsmead for nearly twenty years, was subject to consequences. Later, on June 30, 2022, Antony acknowledged his responsibility for sharing explicit photos of youngsters between May 2020 and June 2022.

Antony’s teaching career has been permanently prohibited by the Teaching Regulation Agency, which is in charge of monitoring teacher behavior. This ban covers all educational institutions in England, including youth hostels, sixth form colleges, schools, and children’s homes.

Following his arrest, Antony was suspended from The Crypt School, and in July 2022, he was fired for grave misconduct.

Examining the matter, the agency’s conduct panel noted Antony’s admission that he got “sexual gratification” from the lewd photos. It also highlighted how, for an astonishing one to two years, he failed to report the upsetting content he accessed online, failing to uphold his obligation to protect students.

The person who made the decision to prohibit anything was David Oatley, who emphasized how important it is to keep kids safe in schools. He said, “In view of the seriousness of the allegations found proved against him, I have decided that Mr. Antony shall not be entitled to apply for restoration of his eligibility to teach.”

This important move makes it abundantly evident that the educational authorities are steadfast in their commitment to protecting students’ safety and wellbeing and makes it very obvious that this kind of despicable behavior will not be accepted in the teaching profession.
