Federal Workers Ordered to Report Accomplishments

Read Time:52 Second

WASHINGTON (AP) — Federal workers will receive a second directive via email this Saturday requiring them to document their recent work accomplishments, advancing President Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s controversial government employee review initiative.

Unlike the previous communication from the Office of Personnel Management, the upcoming email will come directly from individual agencies, facilitating easier enforcement against non-compliant employees, according to a source with knowledge of the plans who requested anonymity. This follows an earlier directive that asked federal employees to enumerate five completed tasks, which received limited responses after agencies issued contradictory guidance.

Musk, whom Trump has authorized to lead federal agency efficiency efforts, maintains that these accountability measures are essential. Previously, national security agencies had directed their staff not to respond due to the classified nature of their work. Trump suggested those who disregarded the first email were at risk of termination and claimed, without providing evidence, that some government positions might be “fictional.”

This escalation comes as the administration lays groundwork for potential workforce reductions and organizational restructuring across federal agencies.
