FCC Launches Investigation into Broadband Usage Limits

Read Time:32 Second

The Federal Communications Commission has initiated a formal study on how broadband data caps impact consumers. This investigation aims to assess the effects of these limitations on small enterprises, low-income families, and individuals with disabilities.

FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel emphasized the need to prioritize consumers, noting that data restrictions can hinder communication and negatively affect business operations. The commission is actively seeking public input and personal accounts to inform its conclusions.

This study follows the FCC’s April 2024 mandate requiring Internet Service Providers to display transparent service information. The investigation may also relate to ongoing efforts to reinstate net neutrality, despite legal opposition from ISPs.
