EPL: Man City Takes a Serious Injury Hit Before Against Chelsea

Read Time:1 Minute, 22 Second

As they are ready to play Chelsea in the Premier League, Manchester City has a big task ahead of them. The highly anticipated match at Stamford Bridge on Sunday is expected to be marred by an injury, according to manager Pep Guardiola’s disclosure about star midfielder Jack Grealish.

A vital member of City’s offensive squad, Grealish took a knock during practice before to the Community Shield matchup with Manchester United. His exclusion from the Wembley squad made his absence noteworthy. Grealish’s fitness was a source of worry for Guardiola, who said, “Discomfort for two days but especially on Friday, his feeling wasn’t good.”

Although the injury is not thought to be serious, Guardiola and his team are hesitant to put Grealish back in too soon. “We didn’t want to take a chance, but I don’t believe it’s a major problem. It’s a blow; he was combative and had rhythm. He could be prepared for Chelsea, or at least I’m very confident he will be for Ipswich Town. Guardiola continued, “If he had been hurt now, he might have been out for three weeks or a month.”

Manchester City will rely on Jeremy Doku and their recent £33 million acquisition, Savinho, to step up on the left wing in Grealish’s probable absence. Given that City wants to get off to a great start to the season, both players will be anxious to contribute.

The matchup between these two Premier League heavyweights is made even more intriguing by the uncertainty surrounding Grealish’s availability. In order to defend their championship in the forthcoming season, Manchester City supporters will be hoping for a speedy comeback.
