Due to the rapidly dropping temperatures in Central Texas, several local colleges and institutions have announced delays and closures for Tuesday classes as a precaution. According to the National Weather Service, mid-teen temperatures are predicted for Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, along with a wind chill advisory through 9 a.m. on Tuesday and a hard freeze warning through 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

Updates for Colleges and Universities:

The Austin Community College district anticipates opening for spring courses on a regular schedule. Conditions will be monitored, and any changes will be announced via the ACC Emergency Alert system.
Huston-Tillotson University: On Tuesday, classes and operations will begin at 11 a.m.
University of Texas: Regular schedule, with accommodations for individuals impacted by local closures or delayed start times.

School District Postponements and Closures:

Austin school district: All classes, buses, and offices will start Tuesday two hours later than scheduled.
Bastrop: On Tuesday, the school district’s campuses were closed.

  • Del Valle: Due to the exceptionally low temperatures and “lake effect” snow that covered several DVISD sites, all schools and offices were closed.
  • Dripping Springs: On Tuesday, there will be a two-hour delay for all bus pickup and school start hours.
  • Eanes: Tuesday classes start two hours later than scheduled.
  • Elgin: On Tuesday, all of the district’s campuses were closed.
  • Georgetown: On Tuesday, there will be a two-hour delay in courses and transportation.
  • Hays: Tuesdays are closed; subject to coach or sponsor confirmation, after-school activities may recommence.
  • Hutto: On Tuesday, there will be a two-hour delay in campus and bus operations.
  • Lake Travis: All school campuses, buses, and facilities will open two hours later on Tuesday.
  • Leander: All classes on Tuesday will be delayed by two hours.
  • Manor: All classrooms, transportation, and district offices will start Tuesday two hours later than scheduled.
  • Marble Falls: On Tuesday, classes will continue as usual.
  • Pflugerville: Tuesday courses start two hours later than scheduled.
  • Round Rock: All sessions will begin on Tuesday two hours later than scheduled.
  • San Marcos: On Tuesday, all district offices and institutions were closed.
  • Smithville: On Tuesday, all district schools were cancelled.
