Due to a government blockade, X was temporarily restored in Brazil.

X, Elon Musk’s social media site, has been blocked in Brazil for more than two weeks, but it can be used temporarily there. The restart happened by accident and is linked to X switching to Cloudflare’s DNS service, which is letting people in for now. But the business thinks the service will be stopped again “soon.”

Late in August, Justice Alexandre de Moraes of the Supreme Court ordered that the platform be banned. This came after months of conflict between the Brazilian government and X over the platform’s failure to delete certain accounts. Because of the shutdown, SpaceX’s Starlink had to deal with account freezes in the country.

A representative for X made it clear that the company moved network providers to keep service going in Latin America. This meant that users in Brazil could get back online by accident. Even with the short-term fix, Brazilian ISPs are still working to follow the court order, and it’s still not clear how long the service will be up. Users who try to get around the block by using VPNs have been fined a lot by regulators.

The company says it is talking with the Brazilian government and hopes to find a solution soon so that Brazilian users can get full service again. It’s still unclear what will happen, and X could be put offline again at any time.
