Images of the aftermath of a terrifying crash involving two lorries on the A1 near Colsterworth, Lincolnshire, have surfaced. The event, which happened just before 7am, seriously disrupted traffic.

Between the A606 at Stamford and the A607 at Harlaxton, the A1 is blocked in both directions. Road closure is anticipated to continue while the accident is being handled by emergency personnel, who are now on the scene.

Images show a heavy HGV overturned in the middle of the reservation, blocking traffic on both sides, and another truck lying in a ditch close by. At this point, the extent of any injuries is unknown.

A National Highways representative has confirmed the closure, citing a minimum of two vehicles involved in a collision. “A collision involving at least two lorries has caused the A1 in Lincolnshire to be closed in both directions between the A607 (Harlaxton) and A606 (Stamford).” Lincolnshire Police and other emergency services are present.”

Further information regarding the event has been requested from Lincolnshire Police as recovery attempts get underway. As the situation develops, stay tuned for updates.
