Bluesky has introduced a new Trending Topics feature, now in beta, for desktop and the latest mobile app versions. Found in the search tab, this addition highlights the platform’s most popular content. Users can disable the feature or ensure muted words are excluded from trends.
Current trending topics include “Christmas,” “Nosferatu,” and “Wikipedia,” some of which have gained traction due to Elon Musk’s online activity. The feature mirrors similar functionalities on Threads and X (formerly Twitter), where it has been a key feature for years.
Bluesky recently achieved a milestone of 25 million users, with many joining the platform after the U.S. elections. Despite being smaller than Threads and X, Bluesky has received positive feedback for its high user engagement and reduced prevalence of bots and harassment.
The platform is also working on other popular requests, including bookmarks, post editing, verification badges, and private posts. This latest update reflects Bluesky’s effort to improve its user experience and compete with more established platforms.
As Bluesky continues to grow, features like Trending Topics may help solidify its position as a compelling alternative in the social media landscape.
