Belarus’s President Alexander Lukashenko delivered a forceful message regarding potential NATO engagement in the Ukraine conflict during his address at the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia. He cautioned that NATO military intervention could trigger a broader conflict, possibly escalating to nuclear warfare.
Lukashenko, a steadfast ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, has made Belarus instrumental in supporting Russia’s military operations. The country’s strategic location, sharing a substantial border with Ukraine, has served as a crucial corridor for Russian military logistics and troop movements.
“If NATO soldiers enter the conflict, there will be another war,” Lukashenko stated emphatically. He also maintained that Russia’s current military presence in Ukraine is sufficient, dismissing the need for additional support from other countries, including North Korea.
His statements reinforce Belarus’s continued backing of Russian military efforts and heighten already existing regional tensions, drawing close attention from the international community.
