Caden Tellier, the junior quarterback for Morgan Academy, died after getting seriously hurt in a high school football game. This is a very sad event. The 16-year-old was hurt after being tackled in the third quarter of Selma’s game against Southern Academy on Friday night. He was taken by helicopter right away to the University of Alabama at Birmingham hospital, but died on Saturday from a brain damage there.
On social media, Caden’s family announced his death and shared their grief and thanks for all the support. “Chaden Tellier, our son, has met Jesus in person.” The family said, “Thank you for all of your prayers. We need them for the hard days ahead.” They talked about how kind Caden was and told everyone that he was an organ donor, which is one last act of kindness that will save lives.
Headmaster of Morgan Academy Bryan Oliver also spoke about how sad everyone in the school community was, saying, “There are no words to describe how we feel as a school community and family.” Our school will always remember Caden for who he was and what he meant to us.
Because of the tragedy, Morgan Academy has canceled all sports for next week. This includes the football game at Wilcox Academy on Friday. The Tellier family is still getting support and apologies from people in the community during this hard time.
