Amorim Sets Stricter Rules After Rashford, Casemiro Trips

Manchester United’s new head coach, Ruben Amorim, has announced plans to introduce tighter regulations at the club following recent controversy involving Marcus Rashford and Casemiro. The 39-year-old, who took charge on November 1, is aiming to instill more discipline as he adjusts to his role at Old Trafford.

Mid-Season Travel Sparks Criticism

The issue arose when Rashford and Casemiro traveled to the United States during the international break. With neither called up for national team duties, the pair utilized their club-granted five-day break for personal trips. Rashford attended an NBA game at Madison Square Garden, while Casemiro visited Disney World in Florida.

Their actions drew backlash from club legend Gary Neville, who questioned the timing of such leisure activities during the season.

Amorim Defends Players but Calls for Change

Amorim defended the players, noting they followed the club’s current guidelines. “We cannot blame the players,” he said. “They were told they had five days off and could go anywhere because the club didn’t restrict travel. So, this cannot fall on Rashford or Casemiro.”

However, the Portuguese coach acknowledged the need for a new approach. “Would I change the structure? Yes, absolutely,” Amorim explained. “It’s my responsibility to decide if players get five days, three days, or if they can rest without traveling. This is something the club and I must address going forward.”

Amorim’s Start at Manchester United

In his first game as United’s manager, Amorim oversaw a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town, highlighting the work required to align the team with his vision. After the match, he emphasized the need for more time to implement his ideas fully.

Amorim’s first home match at Old Trafford will be a Europa League tie against Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt, where fans will watch closely to see how his changes take effect.

As Amorim establishes his leadership, his focus on discipline and structure could mark the beginning of a more organized era for Manchester United.
