Once referred to as “the sister I’ve never had and always wanted,” Prince Harry and Princess Kate’s bond is now essentially nonexistent. According to a royal specialist, Harry is deeply sorry for the way their relationship has been since he and his wife, Meghan Markle, relocated to the US.
“He really misses that warm, uncomplicated relationship,” royal author Tom Quinn told The Mirror. “He is torn between loyalty to his wife and regret about the loss of the woman he was so close to.” Harry’s second major grief after losing his mother was losing Kate.”
After the publication of Harry’s memoir, Spare, in which he wrote extensively about Kate and Prince William, the distance between the two became even more apparent. Quinn went on to say, “Meghan doesn’t feel bad about Kate because she believes Kate ought to have been the only member of the Royal Family to support her through every trial. Meghan simply couldn’t understand why Kate always followed the royal line rather than standing with her since she knew Kate was an outsider.”
Following the news that Kate had cancer, Meghan and Harry were taken aback and offered their support to the Waleses. Quinn, meanwhile, doesn’t think this will be sufficient to stop the conflict. “Meghan is truly shocked by Kate’s cancer prognosis, but the relationship has grown so toxic that she doesn’t see how to mend it. Quinn stated that Meghan “still feels Kate was wrong and should make amends before attempting to mend fences.”
Tension has always existed between Meghan and Kate, particularly after their argument over a bridesmaid’s outfit that reportedly caused Meghan cry. Kate eventually expressed regret, but the incident had a lasting effect. According to Harry, Kate texted Meghan, stating, “Charlotte’s dress is too big, too long, and too baggy,” as reported in Spare. When she tried it on at home, she sobbed.” Meghan answered that a tailor was available to make any required alterations to the dresses, but Kate’s detached response is reported to have left Meghan “crying on the ground.”

Harry and Kate used to be close, but their current distance seems unbridgeable. The problem is made worse by Meghan and Kate’s continuous friction. As an outsider herself, Meghan apparently believes Kate ought to have offered more encouragement. Meghan believes Kate has consistently supported the royal establishment, which further polarizes her.
Harry’s autobiography and remarks made in public have only widened the gulf. According to reports, Kate was surprised by Spare‘s material, especially how Harry portrayed her conflicts with Meghan. One prominent instance is the heated debate about Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid outfit that transpired shortly after Kate gave birth to Prince Louis. The tense dynamics were brought to light by Harry’s account of the event, which included Kate’s text to Meghan and the ensuing emotional consequences.
There is still little chance of reconciliation while Kate fights cancer. Meghan’s position has not changed despite her shock at Kate’s prognosis. Deep-seated resentment and enduring animosity continue to cloud any chance of healing. Even if Harry could be sorry to lose their intimate relationship, there seem to be many obstacles in the way of their reconciliation.
