Starting with its inaugural Impact Summit, Sephora is creating waves in the beauty industry for its support of BIPOC-founded firms. This event, which is scheduled for February 26 and 27, is a critical turning point in Sephora’s history of valuing inclusion, equity, and diversity in the beauty industry.
A wide range of people attend the conference, including executives, consultants, and major merchant sponsors, as well as BIPOC founders of firms that Sephora carries, former participants in the Sephora Accelerate incubation program, and members of the Sephora Squad influencer collective. The main objective is to promote significant discussion and cooperation over Sephora’s continuous initiatives in these fields.
The event’s keynote speaker, renowned fashion designer and 15 Percent Pledge founder Aurora James, will stress the value of inclusion and representation in the beauty business.
Sephora’s global chief merchandising officer, Priya Venkatesh, stressed the summit’s inclusivity by saying, “We invited all of our BIPOC brands, big and small, to come. Simply put, it’s a fantastic venue for the founders to get together, network, and learn. You never know what will come of it.”
Prominent personalities including Danessa Myricks, who founded her own line, Amy Liu, who founded Tower 28, Priyanka Ganjoo, who founded Kulfi Beauty, and Alisa Carmichael, a partner at VMG, are among the speakers on the schedule.
A few notable alumni from this year’s Accelerate class are Denise Vasi, the creator of Maed Beauty, and Hannah Diop, the co-founder of Sienna Naturals, as well as Issa Rae, the critically acclaimed star of HBO’s “Insecure.” Eleven businesses from past Accelerate programs are currently carried by Sephora, demonstrating the development and success of these up-and-coming beauty endeavors.
Sephora’s Impact Summit is expected to be a ground-breaking occasion that propels positive change in the beauty industry because of its unwavering commitment to elevating the voices of BIPOCs and promoting a more inclusive landscape.
