A yellow weather warning for hail, sleet, and snow has been issued.

Shetland is under a yellow weather warning for snow from the Met Office, which is in effect until Tuesday at 3 p.m. It is recommended that residents get ready for up to 15cm of snowfall, along with sleet and flurries.

A yellow warning for ice that covered the Highlands and Orkney was downgraded earlier. All of the Shetland Isles are now under a fresh ice alert, though, and it will be in force on Tuesday from 3 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There is a chance of tiny hail along with severe sleet and snow showers, according to forecasters. Strong gusts are predicted, which might result in snow drifting and blowing, reducing visibility and accumulating in certain places.

There could be as much as 5 cm of snow in lower elevations and up to 15 cm in higher ground areas like Yell, Fetlar, Unst, and the north Mainland.
