New Delhi [India], February 10: In a significant development, BJP’s newly elected MLA from Mustafabad, Mohan Singh Bisht, has announced plans to push for renaming the constituency to Shivpuri or Shiv Vihar. Bisht, who secured victory in the Delhi assembly elections, confirmed his intention to advocate for the name change, citing his long-standing involvement in the area’s development since 1998.

Speaking to ANI, Bisht emphasized that the proposed name change is not linked to developmental work but reflects a cultural and historical shift. “We will change the name from Mustafabad to Shivpuri or Shiv Vihar… I will change the name because I did the development work from 1998 to 2008 there,” he stated.

Bisht, who defeated AAP’s Adeel Ahmad Khan in the Muslim-dominated seat, also pledged to prioritize infrastructure improvements in the constituency. “The day I take the oath, I will ask for limiting drains on the peripheral line,” he added, highlighting his focus on addressing local issues.

The BJP’s historic win in the Delhi assembly polls, securing 48 out of 70 seats, has bolstered its position in the capital. The party’s victory included defeating prominent AAP leaders, such as Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia. However, the BJP has yet to announce its Chief Ministerial candidate for Delhi.

The proposed renaming of Mustafabad has sparked discussions, with many viewing it as part of the BJP’s broader cultural and political agenda. As Bisht moves forward with his plans, the move is expected to generate both support and debate among residents and political observers alike.
