A large-scale search is in progress for Chris Ellery, who disappeared during an independent boat journey near Pembrokeshire. Concern arose when he didn’t return to Fishguard as expected Thursday afternoon, with his most recent contact occurring Wednesday.
A collaborative rescue effort is being coordinated between HM Coastguard, local police, and RNLI teams, covering northern Pembrokeshire’s coastline, along with Cardigan and St Brides Bays. Saturday morning saw the continuation of search operations, utilizing aircraft support, RNLI vessels, and police units.
His daughter Kenzie took to social media with a heartfelt request for help locating her father. She noted that while he regularly takes solo voyages and is typically well-equipped for emergencies, his current silence is unusual for him.
An Apple AirTag belonging to Chris was detected at sea, and search teams discovered his personal items in a secluded cove that can only be reached by water, leading to increased search activity in these areas.
The operation, initiated by Dyfed-Powys Police following notification from Avon and Somerset Police, includes rescue aircraft and multiple coastguard teams from Fishguard and St Davids, alongside RNLI lifeboats from various locations including Cardigan and Little Haven. After a nighttime pause, efforts resumed at daybreak Saturday.
The Ellery family maintains hope and requests that anyone with relevant information contact authorities.
